Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has launched a campaign for EU residents countries called Learn-Check-Act
‘Learn-Check-Act’ is a new campaign, launched by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, to counteract Russia's attempts to legitimize its presence in the occupied territories of Ukraine through business, educational, cultural and human contacts.
April 22, Kyiv: EU Sanctions were imposed on the Russian Federation after its occupation of Crimea and parts of Ukraine's Donetsk and Luhansk regions in 2014.
Instead of adhering to the international rules-based system, the Russian Federation began to look for ways to circumvent sanctions and legitimize its presence in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.
Oleksii Makeiev, the Foreign Ministry's Special Envoy for Sanctions said-
This campaign helps us to protect and educate our European neighbours from the risk of sanctions that can arise when European politicians, businessmen and artists fall victim to Russian manipulations to legitimize their crimes in the occupied territories of Ukraine
The campaign calls on EU citizens to take three simple steps to protect themselves from the risks of being sanctioned:
Learn about restrictions imposed on Russia by the EU and Ukraine.
Check with counterparts in order to avoid unexpected problems which may arise in business dealings with Russia.
Act proactively to safeguard against further aggressive actions which may be committed by Russia against Ukraine and other European countries.
Russia uses economic, cultural and peer-to-peer contacts in its attempt to bestow ‘legitimacy’ on these illegally occupied Ukrainian territories. It is also investing heavily in misleading the European public and business community by attempting to involve them in illegal deals in occupied Crimea.
The Foreign Ministry invites international organizations, business associations and foreign media to support the campaign by:
sharing information about the campaign with friends and colleagues;
downloading and sharing infographics on the EU’s current restrictive measures;
using the hashtags #LearnCheckAct, #Sanctions, #CrimeaIsUkraine.
