Dmytro Kuleba ensures Great Britain’s support against the background of Russian aggression
Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba had a telephone call with Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs of the United Kingdom Liz Truss.
Dmytro Kuleba informed his British counterpart in detail about the aggravation by the Russian Federation of the security situation in Donbas and along Ukraine's border, massive Russian propaganda and Moscow's destructive position within the existing negotiation platforms.
“The Russian Federation purposefully undermines the Normandy format, despite the active efforts of Ukraine, France and Germany to resume its work. The Russian delegation de-facto has blocked the activity of the Tripartite Contact Group. The armed forces of the Russian Federation make it impossible for the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to access the temporarily occupied territories,” the minister said.
According to him, against the background of these destructive actions, Russia is increasing its military presence near Ukraine's borders, using hostile rhetoric at the official level and spreading disinformation.
Dmytro Kuleba reaffirmed Ukraine's commitment to political and diplomatic settlement of the Russian-Ukrainian armed conflict and stressed the importance of consolidating the efforts of the international community to strengthen the security of Ukraine and Europe in the face of the Russian threat: “We call on our partners to work together to adopt a complex deterrence package to prevent further Russia’s aggression, by ramping up sanctions on Russia and strengthening Ukraine’s defence capabilities in particular".
Minister Kuleba thanked Great Britain for its solidarity and support of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and the readiness to contribute to strengthening its security.
Dmytro Kuleba and Liz Truss coordinated their positions on the eve of the meeting of NATO Foreign Ministers in Riga on November 30 - December 1 with the participation of Ukraine and Georgia.
