14th Spring of Museums promotes virtual activities

Until September 27, 520 museums develop activities for children and adults such as lectures and film screenings

Sep 23, Culture: Works have seen up close, very close, but within the virtual environment. With the social distance, due to Covid-19, and with some institutions closed, the 14th Spring of the Museums, which runs until September 27, had to be reinvented. This year, the corridors travelled and the works can be visited in the world of digital culture, with a click.

The event, which always takes place at the beginning of spring, is coordinated by the Brazilian Museum Institute (Ibram) and has activities for all those interested. This year, because of the context, museums are going to enter the public house, as explained by the coordinator of Promotion and Management of Institutional Image at Ibram, Ana Lourdes Costa.

“This year, because of Covid-19, it is being carried out in the virtual world, digitally, online, so the theme is Digital World: Museums in Transformation”, he said.

According to her, virtual visits contribute to the democratization of access to museums. "Not that the virtual space will compete or take the physical space, the physical space, but it is a movement that is here to stay and that we are sure that it contributes, even, to the democratization of access to Brazilian museums", he said.

Between September 21-27, 2020, 520 museums will develop 1385 activities in the most diverse categories: lecture, virtual mediated visit, film exhibition, storytelling, exhibition, musical show and conversation circle.

They are special activities in digital format for the whole public; such as storytelling for children, lectures, conversation circles, film screenings, music shows and workshops for adults.
