Ministry of Tourism accredits Banco do Nordeste to Fungetur

The financial institution should receive R $ 500 million to provide lines of credit for northeastern tourism enterprises.

Nov 8, Brasilia: On the agenda in Paraíba, the Ministry of Tourism authorized the accreditation of Banco do Nordeste to the General Tourism Fund (Fungetur). The initiative will enable tourist companies from Paraíba and other states in the region to have around R $ 500 million available to invest in projects in the sector, including the Cabo Branco Tourist Pole, in João Pessoa (PB).

With the inclusion, the fund totals 21 financial institutions across Brazil able to operate credit lines through Fungetur. The announcement was made during the launch of concession notices for the Cabo Branco Tourist Polo, which will feature resorts, shopping malls, parks and other attractions.

Representing the Ministry of Tourism, the executive secretary, Daniel Nepomuceno, highlighted the importance of the measure for the tourist development of the state and the entire region. “We are working to ensure that these resources reach the top and serve the whole of Brazil. The Tourist Polo project is aimed at placing not only Paraíba but Brazil on the international stage and we are here to help, promote and be able to contribute to the projects that we know will result in the medium and long terms. ”

The governor of the state of Paraíba, João Azevêdo, highlighted the partnership with the Ministry of Tourism and Banco do Nordeste for the implementation of this major tourism project in the state. “We have released three more lots, two for resorts and one for trade and we have already authorized the construction of three resorts and a water park. Having the Ministry of Tourism and Banco do Nordeste as partners to make it possible for entrepreneurs to access the Fund's resources is fundamental for good and big projects ”, he stressed.

Job and income generation

With the third public call for projects in the Cabo Branco Tourist Complex, the state government of Paraíba expects initial investments in the order of R $ 379.7 million and more than 1,100 direct jobs in the construction phase.

The Cabo Branco Tourist Pole will be the largest planned tourist pole in the Northeast. Starting next year, the construction of three resorts will begin, one of which will have a water park. From these developments, there is an expectation of an increase of at least 12% in the total number of beds and the attraction of 2.5 million tourists per year, which will represent a financial movement of R $ 2 billion and generate more than 4,680 direct jobs and indirect in the operational phase.

The president of Banco do Nordeste, Romildo Rolim, made the institution available to attract investments for tourism in Paraíba. “We have a mission to promote the development of the Northeast and we have the resources for that, destined to agribusiness, trade and services. The tourism production chain is very important for the bank because it is a consolidated sector in our area of ​​operation. Banco do Nordeste's partnership with the Ministry of Tourism complements and expands the number of resources for us to invest in the segments ”, he commented.
