To support the promotion of tourist destinations, Brazil govt invests over R $ 8 million
Resources will be transferred to the State Tourism Departments of 16 states and the Federal District
Jan 18, Sao Paulo: For the first time in history, the Ministry of Tourism offered financial support for actions to promote Brazilian tourist destinations to all units of the Federation, at once.
The result was the signing of an agreement with 16 states and the Federal District, an investment of R $ 8.3 million. The resources should support the state departments of Tourism in the construction of promotional campaigns for both tourist routes and regional products, focusing on domestic and proximity (short distance) tourism, which, following global trends, will be one of the main drivers in the resumption of tourism.
“We want the tourism sector, which is so impacted, to be able to recover and promote its domestic tourism, following all biosafety rules that guarantee the protection of tourists and workers in the sector. The objective is to promote domestic tourism, that is, Pernambuco for the people of Pernambuco, Minas Gerais for the miners, to show Paraíba to all the people of Paraíba and so on ”, highlighted the Minister of Tourism, Gilson Machado Neto.
To receive the funds, the state departments of Tourism had to register proposals to promote domestic destinations until October last year. In all, the Ministry of Tourism received 26 proposals, with Alagoas expressing no interest at that time.
After analysis and approval by the National Secretariat for Tourism Development and Competitiveness, the contracts were signed.
The National Secretary for Tourism Development and Competitiveness, William França, says that the intention was to democratize access to resources for all states in the country. Therefore, each state can claim support of up to R $ 500 thousand.
