Dec 28, Sao Paulo: The Ministries of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (Mapa) and Justice and Public Security (MJSP) carried out, during the period from 13 to 18 December, the Ronda Agro II and Horus operations, in the state of Mato Grosso, with the objective of to curb trade and the use of irregular pesticides with active ingredients prohibited in Brazil and products smuggled from neighbouring countries.

In all, 275.5 liters and 10,949.1 kilos of irregular crop protection products were seized in six companies, 40 rural properties, an industry and a transporter vehicle in transit, in the municipalities of Primavera do Leste, Poxoréu, Campo Verde, Paranatinga, Rondonópolis , Itiquira and Pedra Preta.
Federal agricultural tax auditors from the Ministry of Agriculture and inspectors from the Agricultural Defense Institute of the State of Mato Grosso (Indea) drew up 29 seizure and 28 infraction notices, totalling 57 notices.

This was the second joint national action between the Agricultural Defense Surveillance Program for International Borders (Vigifronteira) and the National Border and Currency Security Program (VIGIA), as part of the Integrated Border Protection Program.
