Exchange of data and technologies reinforces fight against human rights violations at work
The focus of the actions will be on slave and child labor, on human trafficking and other illegalities

Oct 16, Human Rights: A partnership was signed between the Ministry of Women, Family and Human Rights and the Public Ministry of Labor to reinforce the fight against human rights violations related to labour exploitation.

The agreement provides for the exchange of information, data and technologies related to illegality related to human work. The focus of the actions will be on slave and child labour, on human trafficking, on labour fraud, on the commercial sexual exploitation of children and adolescents and on the violation of the work environment.

The document was signed on Tuesday (13) by Minister Damares Alves and the Attorney General of Labor, Alberto Bastos Balazeiro.

"This partnership with the Public Ministry of Labor represents a dream for us," said the Minister for Women, Family and Human Rights.

When highlighting the new labour relations, due to the social distance, Damares Alves said that Brazil has to review public policies in the social and legal areas.

“I have been calling on ministers to think about this with me, not a new normal, but a reconstruction. And, in this reconstruction, you will be very involved, because it will directly reach the worker ”, added the minister when defending the importance of the partnership with the Public Ministry of Labor.

“You will be of great importance in this action, for us not to get lost in this reconstruction. So, help us do this reconstruction ”, added Damares.

How will work

The actions will be carried out in partnership between the Secretariat for Research and Information Analysis of the Public Ministry of Labor and the National Human Rights Ombudsman, which is part of the Ministry of Women, Family and Human Rights.

The Public Ministry of Labor will carry out all the activity of identifying, processing, debugging, updating, managing, analyzing and keeping strategic databases of public and private institutions, including those protected by confidentiality.

The National Ombudsman for Human Rights will be responsible for making available the entire content of the database of channels for handling human rights complaints.

After the analysis of the material by the Public Ministry of Labor, discussions will open with the aim of seeking solutions on human rights violations at work.

“I think this agreement is going to bring a lot of important things for us. This marriage of information is fundamental for the institutions to proceed. And, whenever institutions join, the benefit is for the country, ”said Alberto Bastos, the attorney general of Labor.

National Human Rights Ombudsman

Through Dial 100 and Dial 180, the Ombudsman receives, examines and forwards denunciations and complaints about human rights violations.

Dial 100 and Dial 180 are free, open 24 hours a day, and receive, on average, more than 11 thousand calls a day.

In addition to the telephone number, the channels now operate through the Human Rights Brazil application and the page of the National Human Rights Ombudsman. On the website, chat service is available with accessibility for the Brazilian Sign Language (Libras). Telegram support is also available.
