Nov 8, Brasilia: For the second day, representatives of the Federal Government are in the state of Amazonas to show ambassadors from other countries about the Amazon reality and the actions are taken to preserve the region.

This is the objective of the trip led by the vice president of the Republic and president of the National Council of the Amazon, Hamilton Mourão, which started, on Wednesday (4), to the cities of the Legal Amazon.

Some Brazilian ministers and foreign diplomats from different countries participate in the mission. They are South Africa, Spain, Peru, Colombia, Canada, Sweden, Germany, European Union, United Kingdom, France and Portugal, in addition to the Amazon Cooperation Treaty Organization (ACTO).

“Our purpose here is to leave them free so that they can see, with their own eyes, what is happening in the Amazon”, emphasizes Hamilton Mourão.

And this Thursday (5th), in Manaus, the team visited the model laboratory for the investigation of environmental crime, which is located at the headquarters of the Federal Police Superintendence. He also visited the Amazon Flotilla, which is the district force of the Brazilian Navy; and the Encontro das Águas, which takes place at the confluence of the Negro river, with black water, and the Solimões river, with muddy water. At the site, considered one of the main tourist attractions in the city of Manaus, the waters of the two rivers flow side by side without mixing.

Settlement that worked

The group also got to know, closely, the Bela Vista Integrated Colonization Project, coordinated by the National Institute of Colonization and Agrarian Reform (Incra).

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply, the project houses families settled in an area of approximately 785 thousand hectares, occupied since 1971. Currently, of the 1,311 georeferenced lots, 446 have already received the definitive title. When presenting the project to the ambassadors, the Minister of Agriculture, Tereza Cristina, highlighted the importance of the action.

“It is the importance of a settlement that worked. So, we see that when regularization arrives soon, people are able to take credit, manage their property and generate wealth, not only for the municipality but also for the state and families ”, explains Tereza Cristina.

Hamilton Mourão again defended the importance of land tenure regularization to bring development and environmental preservation to the Legal Amazon.

“Today, the Ministry of Agriculture and Incra are getting ready to, using remote sensing and obeying the legislation that is still in force today, which provides that up to 4 tax modules you can regularize by this type of process, to proceed as quickly as possible ”, Says the vice president.

Finally, the mission led by the vice president of the Republic visited the Military Command of the Amazon. The trip runs until tomorrow (6) and will also pass through the cities of São Gabriel da Cachoeira and Maturacá, all in the state of Amazonas.

First day of travel

On the first day of the trip, a flight was made along the BR-163 “They see with their own eyes that the construction of a highway does not mean the destruction of the forest”, said Hamilton Mourão.

Also on Wednesday (4), in the capital of the state of Amazonas, the vice president of the Republic guided the team of diplomats on a visit to the zoo in the Jungle War Instruction Center (CIGS) and the System Management and Operational Center Protection of the Amazon (Censipam).
