Academia e Futebol Program will serve children, adolescents and people with disabilities in Brazil
The final result of registrations for the operation of the initiative published.

Nov 28, Brasilia: The federal institutions selected for the Academia e Futebol Program have already been selected. An ordinance was published this week with the final result of the homologation of registrations to support the structuring and operation of the initiative of the National Secretariat for Football and Defense of the Rights of Fans, of the Special Secretariat for Sport of the Ministry of Citizenship.
The project aims to provide soccer, futsal and beach soccer to children and adolescents and people with disabilities. It also supports the production of knowledge about the sport and encourages the participation of researchers in congresses and the promotion of courses and events.

In all, 40 proposals were approved in the following states: Rio Grande do Sul (1), Santa Catarina (1), São Paulo (4), Rio de Janeiro (1), Espírito Santo (1), Minas Gerais (4) , Federal District (1), Mato Grosso do Sul (2), Alagoas (2), Rio Grande do Norte (1), Bahia (4), Pernambuco (3), Paraíba (1), Ceará (1), Piauí ( 1), Maranhão (4), Amapá (1), Amazonas (1) Pará (3), Rondônia (1) and Tocantins (2).
One of the selected institutions was the Federal University of Ceará. “At the university, we understand that football is one of the most significant sporting events for the population, thinking about social and sporting aspects. Thus, we submitted a proposal for the Academia e Futebol Program and, in our proposal, we will serve 150 beneficiaries ”, explains Mário Antônio Simim, professor at the Institute of Physical Education and Sport at the Federal University of Ceará and author of the proposal by the unit.

According to the professor, of the total number of people served by the Academia e Futebol program, 60 will be people with disabilities. “Our proposal also provides assistance and training for soccer professionals from the interior of the state. We will hold four training courses in key cities here in Ceará. We will also carry out scientific research to understand how football can contribute to society ”, he says.
Another institution that will benefit from the program is the Federal University of Tocantins. “What motivated me to look for this program was the contextual need, since our population is absolutely passionate about football (...) In short, the city breathes football. And, in addition, it is worth adding the importance of working on the issue of football for our priority target audience, which are children and adolescents up to 17 years old, a phase that we consider crucial for the development of a set of principles and moral values ”, says Adriano Lopes, professor at the Federal University of Tocantins and responsible for the project at the institution.
