May 11, Tel Aviv: Following the findings of the Shin Bet’s investigation, which revealed that government funds from European countries were transferred to the PFLP terrorist organization through European and Palestinian non-governmental organizations, the ambassadors of the relevant European countries have been summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Israeli diplomats in Europe have met with the foreign ministries of each of their respective countries.
In discussions, the MFA representatives clarified to the European diplomats the seriousness with which Israel views this matter and presented the findings of the investigation. These findings included evidence that European governmental funds went to the PFLP terrorist organization, which has been designated a terror group in Europe.
MFA representatives demanded that funding transfers be frozen immediately to those institutions which, acting under the guise of humanitarian organizations, recruit funds for the terrorist organization. The MFA emphasized the need for close supervision, which will prevent the continuation of funding for this organization.
The MFA demanded that European countries establish a dialogue, intended to improve control measures and supervision of the funds transferred to Palestinian non-governmental organizations, in order to ensure that these funds do not end up in the hands of terrorists.
