March 13, Sao Paulo: The portfolio also authorized an additional 3,950 adult ICU beds and 15 pediatric ICU beds for exclusive care for critically ill patients with Covid-19.

“We reached a good understanding to receive Sputnik V, which started in August 2020, when Russia approved the use of this immunizer for its citizens. We deepened these negotiations in the following month and now we have another reinforcement to save lives and strengthen our National Plan for the Operationalization of Vaccination against Covid-19 ”, highlighted the executive secretary of the portfolio, Elcio Franco.

The initially scheduled delivery schedule presented by the União Química laboratory indicates the possibility of 400,000 doses arriving in Brazil by the end of April, plus 2 million at the end of May and 7.6 million in June.

"Now, so that we can effectively apply Sputnik V to our population and make payments after each delivery of doses of this vaccine, we only need União Química to provide Anvisa with authorization, as soon as possible, for emergency and temporary use", recalled Elcio.

The pharmaceutical company also informed the ministry that it intends to manufacture the substance in structures it owns in São Paulo and the Federal District to meet national demand, a possibility that will be evaluated in the coming weeks and that could lead to the conclusion of another commercial agreement.

Beds

The Ministry of Health has been providing unrestricted support to states and municipalities during the Covid-19 crisis, serving with actions, services and providing infrastructure to cope with the disease. The authorization of Covid-19 ICU beds occurs at the request of the states, which have the autonomy to provide and finance as many beds as necessary.

To continue this support, the Ministry of Health authorized, this Friday (12th), another 3,950 adult ICU beds and 15 pediatric ICU beds for exclusive care for critically ill patients with Covid-19, on an exceptional and temporary basis. The qualifications cover the populations of the 21 states, according to Ordinance No. 431/2021. The value of the monthly transfer will be R $ 188.2 million, retroactive to the competence of February 2021.
