First Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Emine Dzhaparova met with chairmen of the parliamentary committees for foreign affairs: Mark Mikhelson of Estonia, Rihard Kols of Latvia, and Zygimantas Pavilion is of Lithuania, who was on a joint visit to Ukraine.
April 1, Kyiv: During the meeting, the First Deputy Minister informed the Baltic partners about the situation in the temporarily occupied Crimea and about Ukraine's efforts to de-occupy the peninsula.
Particular attention was drawn to the Russian occupation administration's gross violation of human rights in Crimea. Emine Dzhaparova thanked the Baltic States for their continuous support for the Ukrainian UN General Assembly resolution on the militarization of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and human rights violations in Crimea.
"The significant militarization of Crimea, which expands the possibilities of Russia's military projection both on land and in the Black Sea, poses additional threats to the security not only of Ukraine but also of Europe," Emine Dzhaparova stated.
The First Deputy Minister informed her counterparts in detail about Ukraine's new international initiative - the Crimea Platform, emphasizing that the parliamentary dimension will play an extremely important role in promoting its goals and objectives.
"I am convinced that the inter-parliamentary friendship groups between Ukraine and the three Baltic states will make every effort to keep the issue of the attempted illegal annexation of Crimea in the focus of the world community," she noted.
The chairmen of the parliamentary committees of the Baltic states also plan to visit the area of operation of the Joint Forces Operation in order to support Ukraine's political and diplomatic efforts to resolve the conflict in the east of Ukraine.
